Studio By Sculpey

Post by Clare (HMenchantments) on Sat May 17, 2008 11:04 am

I was just wondering if anyone has had the chance to try the new Studio Range, by Sculpey..???

I'm just about to place a clay order and wanted to know whether it, would be worth trying a few blocks.!!
I'm assuming it's going to be, just like sculpey lll and premo.... but would be grateful for anyone's opinion.

I've seen it in the shops, but not picked any up...I'd be interested to hear from someone who's used it, too...

I know this was posted some time ago, I just now got my acceptance into the forum. The Studio by Sculpey line is interesting... I don't like it for actual sculpting of figures. It is too soft and kind of grainy. But, it is really not bad at all for sculpting the costume. I am currently finishing up a kind of elfish nature pixie kind of thing and used studio for almost all the costuming. I was pretty impressed with how it handled for that application. It drapes pretty well and it really blends well to baked studio... I use just a little bit of my smoothing goop (lander cocoa butter skin cream) and the seam between the baked and the unbaked clay is pretty much invisible.

Thanks for the info Tombo.... I can't wait to see a pic of your finished creation, so we can see how the clay comes out..

Thanks again & welcome to the group
